Technologies, Inc. Receives U.S. Patent
for T2000 Reusable Trocar Access System
Houston, TX August 28,
2001 - NeoSurg Technologies, Inc., a leading developer of minimally
invasive access products for laparoscopic surgery, is pleased to announce that
it has been granted a patent relating to its trocar technology. The patent, U.S.
No. 6,280,417, titled "Trocar" covers the locking mechanism for the obturator
shield on its trocar system, the T2000 Reusable Trocar System.
"This locking technology will allow the surgeon to maintain activation button
contact during insertion or release it based on their preference, said Pete
O’Heeron, President/CEO of NeoSurg Technologies, Inc. This patent should give us
additional support in our efforts to bring advanced locking features to the
market in an effort to protect the tip during insertion.”
NeoSurg owns patents and has numerous pending patent applications for the
minimally invasive access market—showing a strong patent position and commitment

objective of the patents is to broaden the intellectual property protection

The T2000 System consists of a Reusable Trocar constructed of titanium and hard
anodized aluminum for durability and reliability. The access tip is disposable
which provides the surgeon with a consistently sharp and controlled penetration. A
locking shielding mechanism is attached to the main trocar to guard the tip
during insertion.
