NeoSurg
Technologies, Inc. Receives U.S. Patent
for New Tip Geometry for its T2000
Reusable Trocar Access System
Houston, TX
December 28, 2004 - NeoSurg Technologies, Inc., a leading developer
of minimally invasive access products for laparoscopic surgery, is pleased to
announce today that it has been granted a patent relating to its bladeless tip
technology. The patent, U.S. No. 6,835,201, titled "Trocar" covers a bladeless
tip geometry for the T2000 Reusable Trocar System.
"This unique tip geometry provides for a dorsal element to our existing
bladeless tip. We feel this dorsal element will provide additional lateral
stability without increasing the penetration force substantially,” said Pete
O’Heeron, President/CEO of NeoSurg Technologies, Inc. “This patent will provide
the market with a unique geometry and advance our efforts to bring advanced
technology to the minimally invasive access market while recognizing the need to
reduce cost for each procedure.”
NeoSurg owns patents and has numerous pending patent applications for the
minimally invasive access market—showing a strong patent position and commitment
to developing clinically sophisticated and cost effective solutions. The
objective of the patents is to broaden the intellectual property protection
worldwide for the T2000 Technology.
Currently, NeoSurg Technology is protected by over 13 patents and patent
applications worldwide.
About the T2000 System
The T2000 System consists of a Reusable Trocar constructed of titanium and hard
anodized aluminum for durability and reliability. The access tip is disposable
which provides the surgeon with a choice of tip geometries. From a consistently
sharp and controlled penetration to a bladeless entry, the surgeon can choose
their geometry without changing the entire instrument. A locking shielding
mechanism is attached to the main trocar to guard the tip during insertion.
